Μια εμπειρία... έτσι θα χαρακτήριζα αυτή την ταινία. Τρεις ώρες βομβαρδίζεσαι με πως γιατί και ποτέ .παρακολουθείς και βυθίζεσαι στην παράνοια ."Κουνέλια" που μιλάνε -σχόλια πάνω στην τυποποιημένη ψυχαγωγία των μαζών .Ολοφάνερες αιχμές κατά του hοllywood (με αποκορύφωμα τα ξερατά πάνω πάνω σε πλακάκι-αστέρι στην Walk of Fame !)παράλληλες πραγματικότητες και γεγονότα που παραθέτονται χωρίς καμιά συνοχή συνθέτουν το ονειρικό σύμπαν του lynch .Παρόν και μέλλον εναλλάσσονται ...μήπως είναι όλα μια στιγμή (just a blink of an eye)?Ένα ατελείωτο παζλ .Στο τέλος (βέβαια δεν σου δίνει απάντηση !)και αφού έχουν περάσει οι σχεδόν 3 ώρες τότε ..αρχίζει το παρτυ ...το γιορτάζετε μαζί...κάνεις ένα μικρό flash back στις προηγούμενες ταινίες του σκηνοθέτη ....και μετά νιώθεις σαν να έχεις μόλις ξυπνήσει...όχι ρε γαμωτο....

Ένα σκοτεινό παραμύθι ...Υποβλητική ατμόσφαιρα ,μπαρόκ αισθητική , έντονα χρώματα ,χαμηλός φωτισμός ,ψυχεδελική μουσική ( + η ποιο ευφάνταστη σκηνή φόνου που έχω δει σε ταινία) τελειώνει και τα πάντα μοιάζουν με εφιάλτη ....

Years after losing his faith, Detective Thomas Daggett, (Elias Koteas) is assigned to a murder case where the victim is almost unrecognizable. Finding an ancient bible among the victim's belongings, he begins to translate it and finds that it contains a previously-unknown chapter detailing a second war in Heaven among angels. On an Indian Reservation in Arizona, teacher Katherine Henley, (Virginia Madsen) thinks that something's wrong with her children, and it leads Det. Daggett to the area. Also racing to the area is Gabriel, (Christopher Walken) a renegade angel wanting to restore Heaven to it's former past. Investigating the appearance of the angel and the sudden chaos in the town, they band together to stop the renegade angel from unleashing a war on Earth that will tear apart Heaven above.

Things get more complicated as would-be lawyer Mike plays the tapes from a former patient with multiple personalities, including the mysterious Simon who does not appear until Session 9, and as Hank disappears after finding some old coins.

Στην πρώτη του σκηνοθετική απόπειρα ο Ben Affleck κλείνει τα στόματα όλων αυτών που τον ήθελαν απλά ένα μέτριο ηθοποιό (... συγκαταλέγω και τον εαυτό μου ανάμεσά τους ) .Αρκετά καλές ερμηνείες και ένα τέλος- ηθικό δίλλημα-που σίγουρα θα προβληματίσει το θεατή αρκετή ώρα μετά το τέλος της προβολής

Υπάρχει ακόμα νόημα σε μια φωτογραφία μετά από τη συνεχή μεγέθυνση της , ή μήπως αυτό το ακαθόριστο και αφηρημένο σύνολο που απομένει στη θέση της αφήνει την φαντασία να οργιάζει ; Τι είναι πραγματικότητα και τι ψευδαίσθηση ;
Μια ταινία-παζλ με το τελευταίο κομμάτι να αγνοείται (...η μήπως όχι ;)
